Modern fire standards in Georgia - automatic sprinkler system and Decree 41

Fire regulations in Georgia have become compliant with modern standards, this is a technology that ensures human safety. The Georgian government has created Resolution No. 41, which specifies how modern multi-storey buildings should be equipped with fire extinguishing systems.

One of the most effective technologies used within the framework of this regulation is the sprinkler system, which is a globally recognized, reliable and fast fire extinguishing mechanism.

What is a sprinkler system?

A sprinkler system is a complete engineering network of underground and above-ground pipes, designed according to international standards. Its purpose is to quickly respond to any fire source, reducing the chance of fire spreading.

Main components:

  • Underground main line for water supply;
  • Hydraulically designed above-ground pipes;
  • Sprinklers equipped with thermal sensors;
  • Pumps and constant water supply from a reservoir.
  • The automatic sprinkler system is located in the ceiling, in technical shafts, where each sprinkler has a thermal capsule that is activated only during high temperatures.

How does the system work?

When the air temperature reaches 60-80°C, the thermal capsule of the sprinkler opens.

The system is activated only in the event of a fire, and does not affect smoke or other non-thermal factors.

The water flow prevents the spread of fire and often completely extinguishes it, creating a safe environment for life.

Main requirements of Decree 41

In Georgia, Decree No. 41 defines the following mandatory requirements:

1. Development companies that construct buildings over 25 meters high are obliged to equip their projects with an automatic sprinkler system that ensures the protection of the interior of the apartment.

2. The system is activated only when a fire breaks out in the apartment and the air temperature increases significantly. This protects it from unrealistic activations, such as smoke or other non-thermal factors.

3. An independent water supply is required, which includes:

  • A fire tank;
  • A powerful pump;
  • Constant pressure.

4. Hydraulic planning - each sprinkler must have a specific zone, the water supply must be even, there should be no "dead" zones, and the system must meet international standards.

5. Danger zones and evacuation points must be accessible on all floors so that residents can have a quick and safe exit in the event of a fire.

6. Danger zones and evacuation points must be accessible from all floors so that residents can have a quick and safe exit in the event of a fire.

Decree 41 ensures a safe living environment in Georgia.

An automatic sprinkler system is not just technology - it is a protected, safe life in everyday life.
